PROTEST PETITION  Please add your support

If you believe in keeping Anzac Rifle Range Open please sign the on line Petition or print a hard copy (appears as Petition.pdf below) and get as many family and friends to sign it and then post the signed petition to the NSW Rifle Association, P.O. Box 386, Maroubra, NSW 2035.

Why should I sign the petition:

Anzac Rifle Range is the oldest rifle range in the southern hemisphere, it has been in continueous operation as a rifle range since the late 1800's, this is why certain fauna and flora are still located at the site.

Target shooting is one of the oldest sports, if not the oldest in NSW, the NSW Rifle Association origins date back to 15th October 1860.  Others sports are supplied with playing fields from Government, why should target shooting not receive the same Government support.  Apart from the various shooting organistions shooting on the range, there is also the Sydney Model Aero Club flying their model areoplanes and the Malabar Riding School which caters for 10,000 riders per year.  ALL these sporting activities require large open space to conduct their activities, to our knowledge no other suitable site has been idenitifed in the Sydney Basin where they could be relocated to.

Many people, including local residents are concerned that the land will be sold off for high density housing the same as the Prince Henry Hospital site just up the road.

Six of the 98 Australian Victorian Cross recipients were members of the NSW Rifle Association.

From the ranks of Chatswood Rifle Club, 76 of their members volunteered for active service in world war one, of these 8 died on the battlefield and never returned to their Country or families.
